As a winter storm moves into the Northern Virginia area, we want to share how Pet Sitting 4 Comfort® (PS4C) prepares for snow and icy conditions and what pet parents in Ballston, Clarendon, and Rosslyn can expect this weekend.
Our priorities remain consistent in all weather conditions: pet safety, team safety, and clear communication.
Pet Sitting During Snow and Ice in Arlington, VA
What to expect during winter weather:
Services continue when conditions allow. We closely monitor local forecasts, road conditions, and safety advisories throughout the storm.
Flexible arrival windows. Snow and ice may require wider visit windows so our team can travel safely between homes.
Weather adjusted walks. Outdoor time may be shortened during heavy snow, ice, or extreme cold, with added indoor enrichment and safe potty breaks when needed.
Clear communication. Visit notes and photos are shared through the Time To Pet portal. If weather impacts your schedule, we will reach out directly.
How Our Team Prepares for Winter Weather
Our winter safety protocols include:
Optimized routing to reduce travel time and road exposure
Snow appropriate footwear and traction gear
Safety checks of entryways, steps, and walking paths
Prioritization of essential visits during active storm conditions
These measures allow us to provide consistent care while minimizing risk.
How Pet Parents Can Prepare at Home
A few proactive steps help ensure safe and uninterrupted visits:
Clear snow and ice from walkways and entry steps when possible
Leave porch or entry lights on for early morning or evening visits
Place towels near entrances for wet paws and bellies
Ensure extra food and medications are available
Confirm emergency contacts are up to date in your Time To Pet profile
Safety Comes First
If conditions become unsafe due to ice, road closures, or emergency advisories, visits may need to be delayed or modified. These decisions are always made with safety in mind for your pets and our team.
Our goal is to continue care whenever possible while minimizing risk during severe winter weather.

If your travel plans change due to the storm, please submit schedule updates or cancellations through the Time To Pet portal by 9:00 PM the day before service. This helps us finalize safe routes and avoid unnecessary fees.
