Kent is officially 1!

We celebrated after his weekly Saturday class with Lanadawn Nusz at Petco Bailey’s Crossroads.

What started as puppy training is now part of his regular routine.

From Lucky Dog to Our Family

Earlier this year, after saying goodbye to our 16-year-old Lab mix, Sammy, we met Kent through Lucky Dog Animal RescueĀ at PetSmart in Falls Church.

He was about four months old when he joined our family.

Growing Through Training

Why keep going?

  • Practice around people, dogs, and distractions

  • Consistent communication

  • Recognizing when he needs a reset

  • Ongoing learning for our family and PS4C team

Lanadawn also focuses on timing, body language, reinforcement, and adapting to each dog.

Kent has grown up around familiar faces—from bonding with Shatee as a puppy to practicing with Hong during training.

Familiar Caregivers Matter

Christina and Shatee help with Kent’s midday walks and have joined him in class.

Hong also practices with him during training and at-home.

That helps our team understand his routines and individual needs.

It reflects how we care for client pets too: familiar caregivers who take time to know each pet.

Birthday Training Day

Kent wore his birthday bandana, practiced around distractions, and enjoyed a few treats afterward.

A fitting way to celebrate turning 1.

Meet Lanadawn

We value working with experienced pet-care professionals because there is always more to learn.

Lanadawn teaches the person as well as the dog, with a focus on communication and body language.

Here’s to Year Two

Kent has come a long way since joining our family.

Next up: his first Gotcha Day in January.

Happy 1st birthday, Kent!
